Beyoncé, better known as Queen Bey, took a break from her wildly successful Formation tour to bless the BET Awards stage.
The performance began with groups of dancers entering to a drum beat as excerpts from Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech played. The dancers lined up behind Beyoncé and danced on a water table stage as the singer performed "Freedom," off of her newest album Lemonade.
Halfway through the opening performance, Kendrick Lamar emerged from under the stage to rap alongside the singer. After her performance, Beyoncé reportedly went straight from the stage to catch a plane to London. According to her mother, Tina Lawson, she was dedicated to making a scheduled concert. Lawson accepted the "Video of the Year," and "Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice" awards on her daughter's behalf.
