John is washing Ozzy’s blood off his hands after that epic beatdown he gave him. He sits alone at the table and is icing his hand while a very concerned Diana watches him. Diana and John have an interesting morning conversation with Jane. Jane just wants the truth about everything. The Rayburn history will show that the truth is not the easiest thing to discover.
Eve wakes up to Ozzy recovering from his altercation with John. Eve warns Ozzy not to mess up her plan to infiltrate the Rayburn clan. Ozzy is having fun, in his own twisted way and promises Eve that no one knows they are together.
Marco visits Eric for another chat. Marco believes Eric was there the night Danny was attacked at the Red Reef. Marco thinks Eric was somehow involved in Danny’s murder. Eric is sick of always being accused and tells Marco he should go question people who have answers. (He is referring to the Rayburns.)
Meg is keeping busy, as usual, by reading up on Marco and noticing in his file that he was hired one month after the Ortiz incident. She calls John and tells him he is only seven points behind Aguirre and she almost tells him the truth about Marco. She tells John he has to speak at a victim’s rights group. John is hesitant but ultimately listens to his sister.
Diana and Sally have run into each other at the inn and as expected, Sally feels awful and Diana is still being defensive. She won’t force Jane to make peace. Diana wants to know what Jane said to Sally. Sally tells her Jane blames her for Danny’s death. Sally claims the entire family had a hand in it. (We all know EXACTLY who killed Danny.)
Kevin and his new buddy Doug are at an AA meeting. Kevin shares his problems for the first time with the group. We all know Kevin is struggling with the truth and deception. Kevin staying sober is all about honesty, which is extremely difficult when they have to constantly be lying. (Excellent acting in these scenes by Kevin, Norbet Leo Butz.)
Old buddies Marco and Aguirre are having lunch. Aguirre wants to examine more about the family and wants Marco to question Kevin and Meg again. Marco seems torn with his loyalty but I feel ultimately has to side with Aguirre. Marco gives John a heads up that Aguirre is not letting the Danny case go. John uses the heads up to let Kevin and Meg know what is coming. Kevin admits he was high last time he talked to Marco. He suggests maybe they could use this?
Nolan and Sally have an interesting conversation at the inn. Nolan tells her that Danny hated being a Rayburn. Sally’s guilt level is through the roof. Nolan seems surprised when Sally asks Nolan to take her to Danny’s old restaurant. (This will be interesting.)
Interrogation time! Marco talks with Kevin first. He asks Kevin questions and tries to rattle him. Kevin struggles a little bit but does a nice recovery. He claims the day after he last saw Danny has needed more cocaine and called his dealer. It turns out the boat from Danny’s crash belonged to Kevin’s dealer Rafi (who used to work for Lowery).
It is Meg’s turn to face the questions. I feel her questioning should go much easier, but the past history between Marco and Meg seems to make things interesting. Marco seems suspicious of how strange Meg was acting and why she wanted to leave so quickly. I feel that Marco and Meg are going to have it out again soon.
Diana catches Jane searching for the necklace that Danny gave her. Jane just wants the truth and wants to know why everyone is keeping her in the dark. Diana tells her why they went away … they were afraid of Danny. Diana keeps thinking back to her and John’s conversation. She starts thinking about what was said. She remembers leaving, the panic and how John didn’t know what he was going to do. Is it possible that Diana is figuring out what happened?
Diana’s thoughts could be leaning that way as her and John have it out. Diana knows something has been off with John and she is scared of how he has been distant and how he is acting. Diana tells John about Jane looking for the necklace. Diana then drops the big news … either John sees a therapist or she is leaving. Wow. (We also see that John had the necklace the infamous morning he met Danny.)
Meg is trying to keep everything in order. She motivates John to speak with the victim’s rights group (without noticing that Ozzy is creepily watching her outside). Meg stops by Marco’s house where she completely opens up about her family (Sally leaving, Sarah’s drowning, Robert beating Danny). She claims she ended it with him because she wanted him to not be trapped in her family. Marco apologizes and she tells him he has to choose a side. This leads to familiar territory as they have sex. Is Marco back on Team Rayburn?
John gives a very good speech at the victim’s rights group. He talks about violence and how it is inside everyone. His speech is extremely ironic because he is referencing many things in his own life. Diana has quite the concerned look on her face. Meanwhile, Marco just can’t let go why Meg was acting so strange the night he showed up. She lies and says Alec (the man she cheated on him with) was at the house. Smooth Meg.
John is leaving the group and notices that Diana isn’t there. The next morning he wakes up and finds the kids in the kitchen having breakfast, Diana still isn’t there. John finds out she went to their aunt’s house for an “emergency.” John knows what is really going on.
Eric and Ozzy have their usual sketchy meeting. Ozzy wants what is his. Eric gives him his gun. Ozzy then stops by the Rayburn campaign office and being his usual creepy self, he tells Meg John is the one that beat him up and tries to intimidate Meg. He knows John didn’t want Danny around and wants to tell Meg about the Red Reef Inn.
John finally finds Diana. She is scared of John and thought their was no way he could ever kill Danny. She won’t even ask the question because she couldn’t even fathom the answer. John stands their speechless which essentially answers her question. Diana questions their safety. John is barely able to say yes. “What you did could have destroyed us,” Diana says as she walks away. John looks in such a state of shock.
This was a game changer to end the episode. How is John going to handle that his own wife knows and are they truly safe? The final three episodes should be very unpredictable.
