The Next Big Thing is still the next big thing
WWE and UFC star Brock Lesnar was selected to be on the cover of WWE 2K17 on Monday.
This isn’t the first time that Lesnar has been on the cover of a video game. Lesnar was on the cover of WWE Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain on Playstation 2 in 2003 and UFC Undisputed in 2010, according to Rolling Stone. He will be a playable character in the game. The games also has modern stars and formers great such as former WCW champion Bill Goldberg, the Associated Press notes.
“My career has been defined by dominating every opportunity presented to me,” Lesnar said. “I am excited for my newest opportunity representing WWE 2K17 as the franchise’s ambassador and honored to serve as the WWE 2K17 cover Superstar.”
Lesnar made his WWE debut in 2002 and was shortly nicknamed “The Next Big Thing.” At age 25 he became the youngest WWE World Heavyweight Champion in history. He won two more heavyweight championships before leaving WWE in 2004, according to WWE 2K17. In 2007 he signed with UFC and became a UFC Heavyweight Champion. He tied a UFC record for most consecutive heavyweight championship defenses. He returned to WWE in 2012 and won his fourth WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2014.
Lesnar will return to MMA on July 9 at UFC 200 and his next WWE match is August 21 at SummerSlam. WWE 2K17 will be available for Playstation 4, Xbox one, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 and will be released on October 11.
