Channing Tatum spoke about an issue that has been in the national news during an interview with Cosmopolitan.

The interview, which was posted on Facebook June 22, showed the actor speaking about the Stanford rape case, in which Brock Turner received less than a year prison sentence after he was convicted of the rape of a woman while she was unconscious.

Outrage became more prevalent when it was revealed he would only serve three months of his sentence.

Tatum said he felt that Turner should have received stricture punishment and that the sentencing “doesn’t make any sense.”

His thoughts about rape culture were that it was “a very real thing.”

Tatum made the point by saying “This is like if you killed someone…and then just because you went to a nice school and you were a good swimmer, you somehow get a lesser sentence than what you would’ve for cold-blooded murder.”

He also spoke about how important it was that everyone was educated on consent and to be able to be comfortable about talking about sex.

Tatum recently announced he will be directing Magic Milk Live review show in Las Vegas next year.
