Comedienne Chelsea Handler got very candid in a new essay and revealed that she has had two abortions.

Handler penned the essay for Playboy's "Freedom Issue" and admitted to having the two abortions when she was just 16 years old.

“I just thought, ‘Why not?’ I can have a baby. Maybe I’ll have twins and give them rhyming names,” she wrote about her decision to have unprotected sex. “Of course, the idea that I would have a child and raise it by myself at that age, when I couldn’t even find my way home at night, was ridiculous. My parents recognized that, so they acted like parents for one of the very first times in my life and took me to Planned Parenthood.”

The now 41-year-old said that she then got pregnant again for second time that year by her boyfriend.

“Getting unintentionally pregnant more than once is irresponsible, but it’s still necessary to make a thoughtful decision,” writes Handler. “We all make mistakes all the time. I happened to f**k up twice at the age of 16. I’m grateful that I came to my senses and was able to get an abortion legally without risking my health or bankrupting myself or my family.”

She went to say that women who decide on having abortions should be praised for making such a difficult decision.

Her essay of course comes on the heels of Monday's Supreme Court ruling to strike down a controversial Texas law saying it created an “undue burden” on a woman’s right to an abortion.
