After the sad news broke that Bellator MMA fighter Kimbo Slice passed away on June 6 at the age of 42, more information about his heart condition is being released and he was reportedly going to be placed on an organ donor’s list for a transplant.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Slice, real name Kevin Ferguson, was admitted to a Florida hospital last week where tests confirmed that he had a mass on his liver and congestive heart failure. The publication reported that he was then placed on a ventilator and his family was informed that he needed a heart transplant. However, Ferguson passed away just as doctors were prepping him to be transferred to Cleveland and get on the donor’s list.
Prior to his death, Ferguson was scheduled to headline a Bellator 158 fight in London next month.
He is survived by his wife and six children.
