Opening June 15’s episode of The Nightly Show with an obligatory story about Donald Trump, Wilmore commented on the Republican nominees recent birthday, making him the, “world’s oldest baby.”

Moving on to news coverage of the Orlando shootings, Wilmore transitioned to a clip of Obama addressing the phrase “Radical Islam,” and why he opted not to use it. During his speech, Obama provided a commentary on the right wing’s take on the story, criticizing Trump without ever once using his actual name.

Cutting to a skit, featuring fake Donald Trump, Wilmore asked “Trump” what he thought of the omission. Comparing it to Harry Potter and the non-use of Voldemort’s name, “Trump” claimed it was the highest compliment possible. Concerned with the comparison, Wilmore decided to move on.

Next, in another news segment, Wilmore further covered political and media coverage of the Orlando shootings. This time, he focused on Pam Bondi’s appearance on the scene. Much to Wilmore’s delight, she was shortly approached by Anderson Cooper, who criticized her for faking her support. While Bondi later called out Cooper for being disrespectful, Wilmore gave a round of applause to Cooper and CNN for properly doing their job.

The night’s panel featured Ricky Velez, Grace Parra and special guest Timothy Simons.

This time, conversations were focused on gun control action being taken in Congress, particularly with Paul Ryan’s moment of silence being interrupted by shouting and senators leaving the room. Topics covered were the ongoing filibuster, whether action was finally going to be taken, why we can’t agree politically on assault weapons and the difference between the sales and production of guns. The discussion remained a friendly debate, with the panelists each putting forth an honest and convincing argument.
