Oscar Pistorius removed his prosthetic legs and walked on his stumps in court during his sentencing hearing Wednesday.

The former Olympian was in court for a third day when his lead attorney Barry Roux asked that his client remove his prosthetics to debunk any misconceptions he claims have been made about the athlete.

Pistorius was unsteady and even had to be assisted as he walked.

Roux then argued that it was not a “strong” or “ambitious” Pistorius that fired those fatal shots on Valentine’s Day 2013, but rather a disabled man who feared for his life.

As we previously reported, Pistorius was found guilty of killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, when he shot her through a closed bathroom door three years ago. He is facing 15 years behind bars and his lawyers have been arguing for a more lenient punishment. Sentencing in the case is set for July 6.
