In episode 2, season 7, of Pretty Little Liars, the group continues to fight for the truth and works to make sure Alison is safe. With a few suspicions, this episode brings fans a step closer into learning more about the characters.
After Mary Drake finds Hanna in the woods, Hanna and Mary talk while she drives her to Spencer’s house. Reunited with her friends, Hanna said she does not want to go to the doctors. The group of friends tell her about Mary’s identity and catch her up on what has been happening. Spencer notices Caleb and Hanna’s connection together. Soon after, they receive flowers with a note that says: “Couldn't have done it without you. Glad were on the same team. - AD.”
Later, Caleb and Hanna talk and admit they were both scared when she was hidden away. Hannah says she has always felt safe around him but that they can’t be together. Emily checks on Spencer who is tearing up outside. Emily shares concerns about whether on not Alison is safe and suggests they tell Elliot. Spencer says not to and tells Emily to keep an eye on Hanna.
Spencer and Caleb finally have alone time together and Caleb shows affection toward her but Spencer doesn’t reciprocate it as much. Emily receives a call from an unknown caller, who happens to be Alison asking for help. Emily rushes to visit her in the hospital but finds out her visiting instructions were changed and only family can visit Alison. Elliot says he doesn’t want anyone visiting Ali and that it is for everyone's best interest.
Lucas and Hanna meet at the Radley Hotel and Lucas asks her if she will accept his business plan. She is unsure but he continues to persuade her to accept his offer. Hanna looks over the offer and has a flashback of when she was working for her previous boss and meets her future finance, Jordan. Later, Hanna goes to surprise him and says she wants to start all over again with him like in her memory. However, while having a meltdown in front of Jordan, she decides to give back the ring and ends up accepting the offer from Lucas.
Later, Aria breaks up with Liam. He then tells her he will edit the book her and Ezra are writing, making her nervous. Aria and Ezra talk about their future book plans and Aria says she hopes it won't be complicated with Liam. In a scene later, Ezra and Liam sit together to go over the book. With a few digs from Liam about the book, Liam says he is only trying to protect the writers. Liam figures out what happened between Aria and Ezra, years ago on Pretty Little Liars.
Aria, Spencer and Emily visit Elliot at his house in hopes of him letting them see Alison. He refuses to let them visit her. He says he won't allow Mary in, even though she if family. Later, Emily tries to convince Spencer to still have Mary try to get them in so they can see her. In a few scenes later, Mary Drake visits Spencer asking about Hanna. Mary says she spent time in the Radley Sanatarium because Jessica killed a baby she was babysitting when she was younger but Mary was framed for it.
Mary visits the Radley Hotel and sees Emily. The two sit down and talk about Alison and how neither of them is allowed to see her. Emily recommends Mary to try to talk to the workers to hopefully see her. Mary suggests the two go together. Emily and Mary visit Alison and she says she is scared. When she sees Mary, she thinks it's her mom and tries to reveal something about Elliot. But just as she is about to tell Emily, Elliot comes in and kicks her and Mary out. Elliot and Mary go in a separate room to try and talk to each other about the plan they had previously made (which is unknown to the viewers.)
Spencer starts drinking and tells Caleb she was fired from her job in Washington. Spencer asks Caleb if they made a mistake by getting together. He says ‘no’ but uses it in past tense, making Spencer more concerned about their relationship.
The episode ends with Emily sending a group text telling everyone about the conflict between Mary and Elliot. Meanwhile, someone injects a liquid into Alison and sees a white light.
