Tom DeLonge apparently had his reasons for taking a break from Blink-182 and they involved aliens.

In an interview with Mic, the former guitarist talked about the launch of a franchise of different multimedia material.  They will focus on his investigation into “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena.”

These will not only include books but also a documentary and music from his own band Angels and Airwaves.

His book Sekret Machines Book 1: Chasing Shadows is the first in the series and is available for purchase.

In studying alien life, it was “something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve always had a passion for space and the future.” He said the decision had more to do with “what I’m doing with my life now.”

According to DeLonge, the goal of Sekret Machines “is to have a conversation within reality, that’s very grounded.”

At the time the band split up, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker called him “ungrateful” in regards to the situation.
