Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz said season five of the hit show could begin shooting early next year.

On a panel for the Television Critics Association on Wednesday, July 27, Hurwitz was asked about the status of his critically acclaimed show.

"If it does happen, it looks like the shooting will start at the beginning of 2017," Hurwitz said, according to Variety. "We’ve got a lot of the stories broke and we’re ready to go."

A serious problem would be negotiating contracts with a large cast involved in other work. The cast included Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor and Jessica Walter. All of them returned for season four.

Arrested Development ran from 2003 to 2006 on Fox before Netflix picked up the series for a fourth season. That most recent season premiered on the service in 2013. The series won four Emmys, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2004.
