John has already dealt with so much throughout this season and it doesn’t appear to be getting any easier. He flashes back to when he and Danny were kids on the beach and how Danny was already planning on leaving. This happens at the same time Eve and Nolan tell John they are leaving. It is probably for the best.
Meg and Marco are having morning coffee when Marco straight up wants to know why her and John are lying to him. Marco warns Meg to watch out for herself and try to get ahead of this “situation.” Marco turns out to be very busy this episode.
John and Meg discuss the hot topic of Marco and John tells her he is no longer a family friend. He knows Marco is trying to turn them against each other. Meg tells John she leaked the Aguirre news and that Marco was the responding officer. You think they are done then boom… more secrets!
Eric and Chelsea are at their mom’s house and Chelsea is trying to make sure she takes her medicine. Marco obviously pays him a visit and wants to know the truth behind the Rayburn family. Eric tells Marco John is lying and that he met with Danny that fateful morning at the beach. Eric says he will tell his story, but he wants guaranteed immunity. He does tell Marco to ask Jane about the seahorse necklace.
John goes by the farmer’s house and wants to look at his security footage of the road that leads down to the beach. The farmer is being stubborn and won’t let him look unless he has a warrant. John’s family dinner is a bit tense especially once the kids leave the table and Diana tells him she is happy that Nolan is gone. She wants to know if their safe. John doesn’t want to talk about it but eventually mutters to her that they shouldn’t be worried.
Eve and Nolan arrive at the Rayburn Inn and Sally graciously puts them up in one of the famous bungalows. The funny thing is that Eve didn’t mention this to Ozzy who shows up at the hotel, looking clueless and upset when he realizes they are gone. Meanwhile, John visits his old buddy Hank who wants to know if he can get him security footage. Hank might have something. John is lucky to have a buddy like Hank. He wants to see footage from the past six months.
Kevin is working at the marina when Mr. Gilbert drives his boat right up to the dock. Arriving in style. He makes Kevin an offer and wants him to be in charge of the daily operations. Kevin seems very excited. Gilbert later meets with Meg and they discuss him taking over the boatyard. Meg also informs him that the problem (Ozzy) has been taken care of. Gilbert is pleased and wants to continue donating to John’s campaign. He seems to have a strong interest in the Rayburns and past history shows this could be trouble.
Marco is still on the go and he stops by Jane’s school to talk about the necklace. Jane doesn’t know where it is but she knows John didn’t like it and he doesn’t know where it is. Diana sees the conversation. She is upset and later tells John about it. John promises like always that he will take care of this.
Nolan is working on the beach as a very content Sally looks on. It must remind her of watching Danny when he was younger. We find out that Marco/Aguirre are on the same page and Marco informs him of Eric’s claim. We then see Eric go to the pawn shop and pick up something very important… the seahorse necklace!
Eric and Ozzy are out for a little fishing trip and Ozzy is obviously upset that Eve left. He has Rayburn cash and wants more. Ozzy flips when he finds out Eric has been talking to the cops. Ozzy wants more money and Eric says he can prove John is lying. “We own him,” Ozzy says.
John confronts Marco and they have quite the tense, awkward run-in. John gets a call from Hank and learns he was able to get the security footage for him. He types in the date September 18 and finds footage of John driving his truck out to the beach. Not good.
Meg is sitting outside on the dock when Sally joins her and drops the news that Nolan and Eve are staying there. She wants her to tell John and Kevin. Meg mentions Gilbert and Sally immediately chimes in saying she doesn’t like or trust him. I knew this Gilbert guy was sketchy. Meg later meets with Kevin about going over the paperwork for the boatyard. Meg is second guessing it and Kevin is completely against it. Kevin knows this is his last chance and almost feels offended that Meg is the only one who can help him. He doesn’t want to be seen as the new “screw up” of the family. Kevin standing tall.
Marco is still hard at work trying to put the pieces together. He writes JOHN MEETS DANNY? on the paper. John is working on his own plan. He visits Ms. Ortiz and tells her they need to get her story out there. What do you know… the next day Internal Affairs arrives at the sheriff’s station to talk with Marco. John fires right back. Marco later tells Aguirre about this and Aguirre tells Marco to give Eric immunity since they know John is behind this. Marco calls Eric with the news.
Sketchy Gilbert arrives at the boatyard and finds that Kevin has signed the papers. This looks like a great move for Gilbert, questionable move for Kevin. That night, two sketchy guys that know Gilbert arrive at the boatyard and need to use a boat no questions asked. Kevin might soon realize he made a mistake.
Eric flashes back to the last time he talked to Danny. We see that he went back to the beach after Danny never showed up. That is where Eric found the seahorse necklace. Eric seems torn about what he should do.
Eve meets up with Ozzy to break things off. Ozzy doesn’t like this and Meg happens to drive by and see the two of them talking. Meg obviously goes to Sally and just keeps pushing the fact that they shouldn’t stay there. Sally, being Sally won’t budge. Meg is fighting the losing battle.
John and Marco take some verbal jabs at each other outside the station. Marco leaves and John goes into Marco’s desk and finds all the files. He goes through pictures, notes, and even finds where Marco suspects they met. He finds Eric’s request for immunity and immediately has some panic and starts to realize Marco’s plan goes back to the security footage.
He goes through the footage and it shows all the Rayburns leaving the beach even though they said they hadn’t. This is bad news and it gets worse because at the same time, Eric arrives at Marco’s house and says he is ready to tell his story as he holds up the seahorse necklace. I can honestly tell you I have no idea what is going to happen next, but something major is coming in the season finale.
