Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was involved in a fistfight at a friend’s wedding in Hawaii last week.
The altercation happened during the rehearsal dinner at the Four Seasons Resort on Friday. Manziel thought that he was followed by a guy who was a wedding guest then things escalated and Manziel punched the guy in the face, according to TMZ.
The fight ended shortly after it started and the police were not called. The next day Manziel sent the guy a note saying, "Truly apologize. Should have never done that. Know this won't make it better, but hope it starts the day off alright."
Manziel later posted a pic from the wedding on Instagram and there was a bandage on his finger.
The former Heisman Trophy winner was released by the Browns last March after several off-the-field incidents. He previously said that he planned on being sober by July 1, but recently changed that and decided he isn’t giving up alcohol.
On Sunday, he posted a video on Instagram in which he vowed to fans that he would be back. The post included the caption, “You all write about a day in my life and what goes on...here it is. No secrets, no hiding, I'm not what you read about. I'll be back... In time. It can't end like this...it won't. I love you all even though your comments suck."
Manziel's "be back" comment could have been about him trying to get back into the NFL as he has said that he wants to be back in the game. If a team were to sign him then he would miss the first four games of the 2016 season due to being suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
