The notoriously private Macaulay Culkin has just given his first interview in a decade and tried to clear the air on a lot of rumors that have been swirling about him while he has been out of the spotlight.
The Guardian snagged the first interview in 10 years with the former child star, but instructions came from Culkin’s publicist that nothing “negative” could be asked and that the interviewer needed to focus on the actor’s comeback.
A question as simple as asking if he had any “regrets” was shot down because the publicist deemed the word regrets as not being something positive.
During the course of the interview though it became apparent that Culkin wasn’t even really focused on any type of comeback.
“I’m not much active,” the 35-year-old conceded. “If I knew what I wanted to do, I’d be writing it myself.”
Culkin did want to clear up a rumor about how he allegedly had a major drug problem since being out of the limelight.
“No, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever,” he explained. “The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern. No, you’re trying to shift papers.”
It seems that Culkin has no real desire to get back in the spotlight … at least not anytime soon. He actually still goes to great lengths to not be photographed. One is example is that he only likes to walk around New York City at 4 a.m. to lessen the chances of people seeing him.
As we reported, the actor was last spotted out in March wearing sunglasses and trying to shield his face as the paparazzi snapped pictures.
