There have been nationwide protests this week following the fatal shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castro by police officers and Nick Cannon led a demonstration in New York where he believes a difference is being made.

Cannon is one of the many celebrities who have used their platform and spoken about against gun violence and on July 7 the America’s Got Talent host took to Instagram to share photos documenting him leading a protest.

The 35-year-old was on the streets of NYC with a megaphone and wearing a shirt that read “I Can’t Breathe,” which is what Eric Garner said when he was placed in chokehold by a New York cop before he died.

Cannon spoke to ET about how he feels that being involved in the Black Lives Matter movement is making difference.

“I'm putting my efforts where my mouth is, and I'm actually in the community,” he said. “I know we're all upset about a lot of things that are going on. Instead of getting out and just talking about it, I'm really trying to do it.

“You’re gonna see a lot more T-shirts. But we're not just wearing T-shirts. We're actually out here making a difference.”
