A&E's Bates Motel better get a room ready for Rihanna's stay, as the pop star just announced she will be taking on an iconic character for the final season.
On Friday, July 22, the cast and crew held a panel for San Diego Comic-Con where it was announced that the "Needed Me" singer would assume the role of Marion Crane in the series fifth season.
"I am about to check into the Bates Motel," Rihanna broadcasted in a video shared on the Bates Motel Twitter page. "Guess who's playing Marion," she inserts with a coy smile.
"We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way," said executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin.
The role of Marion Crane was originated by Janet Leigh in the 1960 horror film, Psycho, which also serves as a prequel to the thrilling A&E series. The character saw Leigh check into the Bates Motel and meet a horrific end, as she was butchered to death in a shower by Norman Bates dressed as his mother.
The final season of Bates Motel is expected to go into production this fall and arrive on A&E in 2017.
