Oh no, say it ain't so! Sesame Street has let go of three of its beloved characters!

The New York Daily News has reported that not one, not two, but three human characters have been cut from the long-running children’s program. Those officially off the show are Bob McGrath, who plays Bob the music teacher; Roscoe Orman, who plays Gordon the science teacher; and Luis “Mr. Fix-It,” played by Emilio Delgado.

The news wasn’t a complete shock as McGrath, 84, talked about being out at a recent convention.

“As of this season, I have completed my 45th season this year. And the show has gone under a major turnaround, going from an hour to a half hour,” McGrath said during a Q&A earlier this month. “HBO has gotten involved also. And they let all of the original cast members go, with the exception of Alan Muraoka — who is probably 20 years younger than the rest of us — and Chris Knowings, who is also young.”

Sesame Workshop has denied that HBO’s involvement had anything to do with getting rid of their characters and blamed the show “evolving” as the reason.
