On July 26, Anchor Bay Entertainment released their new film, Sing Street, on Blu-ray, DVD and On Demand. It was previously released on iTunes July 12 and Digital HD on July 19. It’s an urban musical by writer and director John Carney (Once, Begin Again) that lives up to and possibly surpasses his previous ventures.

Conor is a 14-year-old boy trying to find himself in 1980's Dublin. His home life is a mess, but he’s kept afloat by his college-dropout brother who teaches him about rock n roll. After switching to a new school, Conor meets Raphina, an older girl. She’s a model so he invites her to be in his band’s music video. The only problem? He doesn’t have a band… yet. Can Conor rise above his struggles and become the man he wants to be? Will he get the girl? You’ll have to watch to find out.

This movie is full of amazing original songs and a feel-good storyline. You get a real idea of Irish life in the ‘80s and its hardships. You want these characters to be able to rise above their troubles and realize their true worth. As they do, you celebrate along with them. While the ending leaves many questions open about their future, it is incredibly empowering and satisfying.

This is probably the best film I’ve seen all year. It’s been hailed as a masterpiece by everyone from USA Today and the Los Angeles Times, to Bono of U2. It definitely lives up to the hype. If you love music, and really who doesn’t, grab a copy of this movie today. It will lift your spirits and inspire you to change your own life for the better.
