Fans are drooling for a chance to get a peak at the seventh season of AMC's The Walking Dead, and they will on Friday, July 22 at Comic-Con.

The official Walking Dead Twitter page made the announcement Thursday morning.

SPOILERS FOR THE WALKING DEAD SEASON SIX FINALE FOLLOW!

Season six of The Walking Dead ended on a cliffhanger where Negan (Watchmen's Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a fan-favorite character introduced in the season six finale from the comic book, takes his barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat and beats one of our heroes to death. The identity of the victim was left unseen.

The director of the season six finale and the season seven premiere put any worries to rest that the cliffhanger won't be cleared up in the premiere.

"Yes, who was at the receiving end of Negan’s bat will be revealed in the first episode," Greg Nicotero said to Entertainment Weekly. Nicotero is also an executive producer, make-up artist, and occasional "walker" on The Walking Dead as well.

EW also has a picture from season seven of Negan holding his weapon at what looks like the same scene as the final moments of the last episode.

Nicotero also said there's plenty more speeches to come from Negan. The character gave a hearty one at the end of season six.

"He’s the kind of guy who imagines himself on stage at a high school production and he loves every second of it," Nicotero said.

The producer doesn't see Negan keeping his mouth shut and he feels that "it’s really going to be about him gesticulating and him sort of relishing in the sound of his own voice while he commands the stage in front of whoever’s alive.”

Whoever is alive will be determined when season seven of The Walking Dead premieres on Oct. 9.

The Walking Dead picked up two Emmy nominations this morning for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup - which Nicotero is among the nominees for - as well as a nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. Both nominations were for the ninth episode of season six titled "No Way Out."
