Poor Jason. Whatever will you do now that Margaret is on the loose? How do you feel knowing that the citizens in your precious town are not safe and there’s nothing you can do about it?
Margaret leaped and hopped from building to building in what seemed like a sequel to The Amazing Spiderman in the July 13 episode, "Pass Judgement." But before we discuss the superhuman prowess from Margaret, we must wrap up the cliffhanger from last week… the death of Megan.
We start the episode with a tense interaction between Dr. Yedlin and Kerry in the elevator where we learn, as well as Kerry, that she cannot carry a baby due to the Abby assault she received earlier this season.
It was not until after this conversation ended and Dr. Yedlin made his way to the Abby experimentation room that the episode kicked into high gear, as he stumbles upon the ghastly scene of Megan’s murder.
As expected, Dr. Yedlin alerts Jason and his soldiers and the panic we have been awaiting for ensues.
While Margaret is slinking through the halls of the headquarters, we are gifted with a glimpse into the female Abby’s stellar memory. She recalls all of the torture she had experienced at the hands of her dead abuser and we are certain more than ever about Margaret’s motives; she is seeking revenge.
Jason has gathered his troops and the search for the astute Abby is on. The team frantically searches the halls and tunnels but they fail to search the drainage system, which Margaret uses to escape the building.
As she exits she finds herself dangling from a cliff. This is no problem for Spidergirl, I mean Margaret, as she casually jumps from the high cliff with no damage. Those Abbies really are some beasts.
It would not be a Wayward Pines episode if we did not experience one Jason and Dr. Yedlin argument. The two squabbled about whether or not to alert the citizens of Wayward Pines about the Abby currently roaming around. Normally we would expect more of a fight from the tyrannical Jason, however he submits to Dr. Yedlin’s suggestion. And cue the ringing of the phones.
The town uproars in a panic as the citizens realize their world may soon come to an end.
All of the citizens are locking themselves safely in their homes. Students are being escorted to safety inside of the Wayward Pines Academy, except Lucy and Frank. Lucy decides that she wants to be with the closest person to a mother in this twisted town, Rebecca. Frank caves in to his younger sister’s demand and off to Rebecca’s they go.
Rebecca decides to drops a bombshell on us. She and Xander, the resident rebel and Rebecca’s town husband, are with child. Of course Xander is pressuring the expecting mother to reveal this news to her husband in her former life, Dr. Yedlin, seemingly because he wants the love triangle between the three to be nonexistent.
Later in the show, Xander with Rebecca by his side rallies up citizens to help the soldiers fight an invincible Margaret. This is something that turns out to be a bad idea as one of the civilians bites the dust and Mario, the head soldier, takes a bullet.
Nearing the season’s end, we finally observe a softer side of Jason. He brings Kerry down to a secret lair and informs her of his plans to create babies, place them in pods and save the human race. A tearful Kerry tells him that she cannot carry children. Much to our surprise, Jason ensures Kerry that he loves her and it’s okay. How sweet.
Meanwhile, Dr. Yedlin and Adam have been tirelessly looking for the fierce Margaret in the woods. They decide to split up and Adam finds a wounded Margaret (Xander shot her in the hand after she was about to take the life of Rebecca’s unborn child) going into the tunnel on the other side.
Adam, who we are positive will take Margaret’s life away with bullets, surprisingly lets the Abby go unscathed.
Adam follows Margaret to the other side only to be greeted by tons of vengeful Abbies, who Margaret stops from pouncing on Adam.
The episode ends with an injured Margaret on the brink of death and reminiscing on the life that her and her fellow Abbies had before Wayward Pines creator, David Pilcher, snatched it away from them. But is the Abby who has captured our hearts dead? That we will have to wait until next week to find out.
