At least two people were injured outside of Olympic Park Monday when an aerial TV camera, suspended by cables, fell to ground.

USA Today noted that two females were struck outside the basketball arena around 2:30 Monday afternoon when the overhead camera fell.

Witnesses said that the women were whipped by the camera’s cable wires and were transported to a local hospital but their injuries appeared to be minor. One bystander mistakenly said that the two women were visibly shaken but there was no blood. However, video of the incident shows one of the women bleeding heavily from her nose.

The camera that fell is operated by THE Olympic Broadcasting Services, which is owned by the International Olympic Committee.

While the exact cause of how the camera fell is not known the weather was mild with clear skies on Monday there were some strong wind gusts though and that likely was the contributing factor to the accident.
