If ABC head honcho, Channing Dungey, has her way then we should prepare for "the force" to arrive on the small screen.

When asked at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday, Aug. 4 if she wanted to see Star Wars imagined in a series for ABC, Dungey did not reject the idea. In fact, she welcomed it.

"Oh, as a fan I would love to say 'yes'," ABC's entertainment president responded. "I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming."

Dungey also divulged to reporters that discussions of a TV show were already underway with Disney's subsidiary and producers of Star Wars, Lucasfilm.

"We have had conversations with them and will continue to have conversations with them," Dungey asserts.

After the panel ended, Dungey did not offer up any more details on the prospective show. "It’s all a little bit hush-hush," she said. "[Talks] are ongoing. We don’t have an official timeline yet."

Rumors of a Star Wars live-action series have been circulating since Star Wars Underworld, a concept that never saw the light of day, was announced in 2005.

Star Wars can currently be seen on television in an animated capacity on Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels.
