Jack Ryan is trading in the silver screen for the small screen, this time in the form of John Krasinski.

Amazon announced on Aug. 16 they have committed to 10 episodes of the popular book series, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

The Office alum, Krasinski, will play the titular role.

Amazon's upcoming drama will trail "Ryan as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale."

Roy Price, Head of Amazon Studios has issued a statement regarding the recent pickup of the CIA thriller.

“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” Price began.

He continued, “Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

It should be noted that this will be an original adaptation since the book is not the prime source material.

Jack Ryan has long been a favorite entity, not only in literature, but in Hollywood as well. Alec Baldwin originated the initial film version of the character, with Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine following in his footsteps.

Amazon's Jack Ryan comes from co-creators Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland of Lost. They will executive-produce beside Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Lindsey Springer, Andrew Form and Mace Neufeld.

The project will be produced by Paramount Television and Skydance Television.
