Actress Bella Thorne and fellow actor Gregg Sulkin have called it quits after almost a year of dating each other.

The news is much to the dismay of their fans who were rooting for the couple to stay together.

According to a statement released to People, the pair cited their busy schedules as the reason for their split.

"After much thought and soul-searching, we have made the difficult decision to end our relationship. We will always love each other and have a deep respect for one another, as we have each grown to be better people because of our time together,” the statement said. “Our schedules made seeing each other difficult, and we decided that for now this would be best."

Thorne also confirmed the news to fans on Twitter who wanted to know if they had really broken up.

When one follower asked if the report that they were no longer together was true Thorne answered, “Things just didn't end up working the way we had hoped.”

Thorne has had many roles in movies and TV shows over the past several years and Sulkin is best known for starring in the MTV series Faking It, which was canceled last May.
