Former Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte is set to join Dancing With the Stars this fall when it returns to ABC.

According to USA Today Sports, the deal was in place before the events that occurred after Lochte and other swimmers fabricated a story of being robbed at gunpoint.

As previously reported, Lochte was dropped by various sponsors after the story was found to be a lie. Instead, it was called vandalism by the police, even though security footage found no sign of that having occurred.

The men were not able to get inside the bathroom and reportedly urinated in some bushes. Footage also showed the only thing that appeared to be true was Lochte tearing down an advertising poster.

While the rest of the cast of DWtS will be revealed on Aug. 30 on Good Morning America, Amber Rose was named as a possible contendor.

Earlier, it had been reported that a source said doing the show would be “great for Ryan’s image.” It would be a way for him to be seen as someone who was a good person but ended up making a terrible mistake.
