It may be in Donald Trump's best interest to have other things lined up if President of the United States does not work out because he will "never" have the opportunity to hire or fire on The Celebrity Apprentice again.

NBC Entertainment chairman, Robert Greenblatt, was questioned on whether Trump will be offered his position back on the reality show if the Republican nominee was to lose to Hillary Clinton in November.

"No," Greenblatt asserts at the Television Critics Association tour on Tuesday. "I have no idea if he has a future in television, but he would never be back on The Celebrity Apprentice as long as I'm here."

Greenblatt also fielded a question that queried his role in expanding Trump's celebrity to the point where he was able to run for president.

“Isn’t the role of television to create celebrity in the world? That’s what every show does,” Greenblatt retorted. “Bedtime for Bonzo helped Reagan become a national prominent figure.”

Trump's successor as "boss" of the Celebrity Apprentice franchise will be Arnold Schwarzenegger. The cast this season includes Snooki, Carson Kressley and Laila Ali.

The New Celebrity Apprentice is set to debut at the top of 2017, on Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
