It's a sad day for lovers of NBC's Grimm as it was announced that the show will conclude after its upcoming sixth season.

TV Line noted that the announcement was made via the network on Monday.

This does not come as too much of a surprise since there was speculation several times in the past that any given season could be the show's last. That speculation only grew when NBC recently reduced the order of episodes from 22 to 13.

“We’ve been talking about that for three years,” Silas Weir Mitchell said. “Like, is this the end? We don’t know.”

His on-screen wife Bree Turner added, “We’ve just always been very present and very appreciative and it’s just been a super fun ride.”

The sixth and final season of Grimm will air on Friday, Jan. 6 and will be followed by a new Wizard of Oz-inspired series called Emerald City.
