Harry Connick Jr. is headed back to television and it does not involve him handing out golden tickets to Hollywood.

Announced at the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, the former American Idol judge will throw his hat in the syndicated daytime talk show ring with his very own series titled Harry!

"I love to entertain and I've done so many things throughout my career that have fulfilled me, I felt like this would be an opportunity to do all the things I love to do under one roof" Connick said of his new venture.

Connick surely has mastered many avenues such as Broadway, sitcoms, movies and unforgettably, music, which will have a heavy role in the New York-based series.

"Music's gonna be done in a whole bunch of ways. Spontaneous ways," the 48-year-old jazz singer states. "Sometimes we'll play, just cause we feel like playing."

Additionally, Connick's music group that tours with him will serve as his house band.

Celebrities turned talk show hosts have had an arduous time making their show a success among daytime viewers. Queen Latifah, Anderson Cooper, Katie Couric and more recently, Meredith Viera, have all been booted from their daytime posts due to failing ratings.

Harry! kicks off Sept. 12 on Fox-owned stations.
