Saturday Night Live is parting ways with two of their cast members ahead of the season 42 premiere.

TVLine broke the news on Tuesday, Aug. 8 about the surprising departures of veteran cast members, Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam, from the NBC sketch comedy.

Pharoah and Killam both served a six-year stint on the the long-running series.

Albeit NBC is losing two seasoned comedians on the show, the former co-stars have certainly left their mark. Killam's portrayals of Matthew McConaughey and Brad Pitt will have a special place in SNL showgoers' hearts.

Pharoah will be best remembered for impersonating most of his comedic peers including Kevin Hart and Eddie Murphy. Additionally his spot-on enactments of Will Smith, and most famously, Barack Obama catapulted Pharoah's name as one of the great SNL performers.

Pharoah has stepped out of the dark regarding his exit via social media. He shared a photo of himself along with Vanessa Bayer and Killam that included the caption, "My fam for life."

Killam gave an interview with Uproxx where he insinuated that he was fired from the NBC series.

"I enjoyed being on the show," said Killam. [I] heard they weren't going to pick up my contract. I was never given a reason why, really. I honestly don't know what happened on the other side."

It should also be noted that freshman cast member Jon Rudnitsky was ousted for SNL's upcoming 42nd season as well.
