He has conquered hosting late night and now Jimmy Fallon has set his sights on an even bigger hosting arena: The 74th Annual Golden Globes.
NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt broadcasted the news of the Tonight Show host's new gig at NBC's Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday in Beverly Hills.
"We're thrilled to announce Jimmy as host of 'The 74th Annual Golden Globes," Greenblatt said. "We’ve found the best possible host to make the evening really memorable and that’s Jimmy Fallon. I know he will bring his unique energy and wit to the show."
This is not Fallon's first outing as an award show host as he previously took on the MTV VMAs in 2002 and the Emmys in 2010.
The Globes telecast has only seen two other host/team emcee one of Hollywood's biggest nights. Fallon joins Amy Poehler & Tina Fey, who hosted from 2013-15. And of course the merciless Ricky Gervais, who was the first host in 2010-2012 and returned to the engagement in 2016.
An estimated 18.5 million people watched Gervais rip jokes on Hollywood royalty at last year's Golden Globes.
Fallon has tweeted his enthusiasm over his new job. He also saw the perfect opportunity to take a shot a presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
The 74th Annual Golden Globes airs on Sunday, Jan. 8 2017 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
