Actor Bill Skarsgård will be on the big screen in 2017 terrorizing children as Pennywise in Stephen King’s It. Now a new image has been released showing him in terrifying attire.
In the image, his body is silhouetted against a grey background and only his sinister face is shown lit up. Before this photo was released, Warner Bros. did release an image that only showed a close up of his face.
This film is a remake of the 1990 Tim Curry television film, in which his clown did not appear as evil as Skarsgard’s version does. But he was still evil and creepy. Don’t trust a clown with balloons.
Entertainment Weekly reported the costume, created by Janie Bryant, takes on themes from Victorian, Elizabethan, Medieval and Renaissance eras.
Bryant said the look “incorporates all these otherworldly past lives, if you will. He is definitely a clown from a different time.” This makes sense since Pennywise is an evil entity that returns every three decades to feed off the fears of children.
Don’t go near storm drains, kids!
The film is due out Sep. 8, 2017.
