Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins addressed an angry open letter supposedly written by a former Warner Bros. employee.
In the letter published on Aug. 11, an unnamed source calls out Warner Bros. for its disappointing slate of films as of late. The source said they were "angry" after seeing Suicide Squad.
"People lost their jobs and you decided Pan was a good idea," the letter said. "You think another Jungle Book is a good idea."
Referencing the DC films, the source asked if Batman v Superman director and producer Zack Snyder is being punished like the people the company has laid off. Then the source claims the upcoming Wonder Woman movie is not shaping up well.
"People inside are already confirming [Wonder Woman is] another mess," the source said. "It is almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes, over and over."
In a series of tweets on Friday, Jenkins called out the source's claims and said nobody has called the movie a mess.
The Warner Bros. DC films may be making money, but press for them has been negative. Critics have Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman at 27% approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The dropoff in attendance for Batman v Superman was so bad, the film couldn't even double the money it made on its opening weekend throughout the rest of its run domestically.
Wonder Woman is the next film in DC's lineup and is set for release on June 2, 2017. After that is Justice League on November 17, 2017.
