Training Day and The Magnificent Seven director Antoine Fuqua is in negotiations to direct another Scarface remake.

Universal Studios looks to bring the story to present-day Los Angeles, according to Deadline. Jonathan Herman, a co-writer on Straight Outta Compton, handled the most recent draft of the script. The writer of Donnie Brasco, Paul Attanasio and Suicide Squad writer David Ayer wrote other drafts.

Fuqua is currently executive producing a Training Day series for CBS. He has a show called Ice about diamond traders in L.A. on the way, as well as an adaption of Mario Puzo's Omerta with Sylvester Stallone in the lead. He will direct the first episode of Ice as well as helm Omerta.

Fuqua is best known for directing the 2001 crime drama Training Day starring Denzel Washington. He has a remake of The Magnificent Seven coming out in September. Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and Vincent D'Onofrio star in the western.

The first Scarface movie came out in 1932 starring Paul Muni. Howard Hawks and Richard Rosson directed the movie. It was loosely remade in 1983 with Brian De Palma directing and Al Pacino in the lead.
