The upcoming trailer for War Dogs features Jonah Hill and Miles Teller as the two leading men. However, there was once a time where James Corden and Shia LaBeouf planned on being the stars.
The director of War Dogs, Todd Phillips stopped by The Late Late Show alongside Bradley Cooper and Corden discussed seeing the trailer as "bittersweet," because he was originally supposed to read for Teller's role alongside LaBeouf who would have read for Hill's.
The night before the big audition though was LaBeouf's infamous arrest outside of the Cabaret, which didn't necessarily stop the Transformers star from auditioning.
Corden joked about receiving a text from Phillips stating, "I don't know if it's going to happen tomorrow. Shia LaBeouf is in jail."
Somehow and thankfully, LaBeouf was released and showed up at Phillips' hotel so he and Corden could audition.
"Shia came straight from jail, so he does look a little bit draggled," Phillips noted.
The audition tape is truly something else, LaBeouf appears in a very mangled blye shirt, looking as disheveled as ever wearing sunglasses draped with shoe laces. Although he was a mess he did seem to read the part rather well, which called for a celebration.
"We're going out tonight-to a play," LaBeouf joked. "Reservations for two at Phantom of the Opera."
