Tyler Posey experienced the wrath of the LGBTQ community after he came out as gay, but later revealed it was all a joke.
“This is me. I am this and this is me. I’ve never felt more alive,” Posey says in a Snapchat video as the camera points to a sign that reads "Gay St." He then rotates the camera on himself and shouts, “I’m gay!”
The Teen Wolf star received praise and approval as soon as the video was posted.
But the congratulatory messages ceased as the actor told fans it was a sham.
The 24-year-old heartthrob attempted to justify his actions in a series of tweets.
"Although I'm not gay, I fully support the LGBTQ community. This was a moment intended to reflect that," he says.
"I am truly sorry to the people I've offended or lessened how big coming out is" Posey lamented on the social media site. "I just want to spread love in this world."
Posey's actions come as a shock to long time fans of Teen Wolf being that the show does an impeccable job at LGBTQ inclusion.
Teen Wolf took home the surfboard for Choice TV Show at last night's Teen Choice Awards, where Posey reiterated that the upcoming season of the hit MTV drama will be its last.
