Chrissy Teigen has sparked a new Twitter debate with her fellow users on the micro-blogging site.
The model seemed to upset some in the Twittersphere when she tried to have a discussion about the word "oriental." Teigen, who is part Asian herself, first explained that she is not all about political correctness but was a little bothered by an option for "oriental dressing" on a recent flight.
Many people chimed in about that innocent comment, but then she was asked if she thought the word was "offensive" and things took a turn.
"Not offensive, really. Just weird. Old school. Just say Asian," she wrote, adding that her "PC-ness is very lenient."
The 30-year-old went on to tweet, "But them saying 'oriental' makes no impact on me. I know that, most of the time, their intention is not to hurt."
When one commenter tweeted at her saying that the word was "incredibly inappropriate" she responded that she felt the word was not a "slur" rather just "forgivable ignorance."
Not everyone agreed with her assessment though and out came the wrath of Twitter.
Eventually, Teigen tweeted that there was some "miscommunication" over the definition of what is offensive.
