Nearly one year after her death Jim Carrey is being sued by the husband of his late ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White.
ET reported that White's estranged husband, Mark Burton, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Carrey on Monday.
The actor and White had dated on and off for years but after her death reports surfaced that she had married Burton at a Las Vegas wedding chapel in 2013.
The suit accuses Carrey of providing prescription drugs for White.
“This is a case about Jim Carrey using his immense wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive and, in this case deadly, controlled substances,” the suit alleged. “Mr. Carrey did so despite the fact that he knew full well that Ms. White was ill equipped to ingest and manage highly additive prescription drugs outside the care of a licensed physician; was prone to depression; and had previously attempted to take her own life.”
White was found dead in her Sherman Oaks home last September after overdosing on pills. Her death was ruled a suicide. Carrey served as a pallbearer at her funeral.
