The moment we have been waiting for after Michael Strahan's departure and the carousel of co-hosts who have sat in with Kelly Ripa over the last few months has finally come. She announced Wednesday that Live has chosen a new co-host, well sort of.

One day after Ripa teased that a big announcement was coming, fans pondered whether Joel McHale, Andy Cohen, Fred Savage, Anderson Cooper or someone else would be getting the morning talk show gig. But instead Ripa told viewers that they will be given the chance to co-host the show. Say what?

"Now you have the chance to prove it," Ripa said after reading online that social media users think her job is so easy.

Her former co-host Strahan left Live! with Kelly and Michael last May for a full-time position at Good Morning America. He had been in the co-hosting chair with her for four years, but when he announced he was leaving their relationship seemed to go south as Ripa said she was blindsided by the news. Today, however, fans were blindsided by the co-host choice as they expected a celebrity to named. Viewers only have until Sept. 20 to submit on the "Live" site so we might still get a celebrity host announcement after that date. Stay tuned.
