While the state's appeal is pending, lawyers for Making A Murderer star Brendan Dassey want their client released from prison immediately.

As we reported, last month a federal judge overturned the now-26-year-old’s conviction of first-degree intentional homicide, second-degree sexual assault and mutilation of a corpse. The ruling stated that Dassey would be released from prison within 90 days if the state chose not to refile charges. The Wisconsin Attorney General, however, has appealed the case and TMZ noted that in the meantime Dassey's attorneys want him set free while the process goes through.

They said he does not pose a flight risk and would like him to be released so he can spend time with his family. They also pointed out that Dassey never had a behavior problem while behind bars and mostly spent his time reading, watching television and recently began crocheting.

Dassey along with his uncle, Steven Avery, were the subjects of the Netflix documentary, Making A Murderer, which raised questions about the murder case of Teresa Halbach that the two were convicted of nine years ago. Many believed that Avery was specifically targeted by law enforcement after he sued the county for millions when his rape conviction was overturned. In addition, officials have been accused of coercing a confession to the murder out of his nephew, Dassey, who was 16 at time and has a low IQ.
