On the season one finale of Lucifer, we found out that his mother had escaped from Hell. This week, he investigates a suspicious murder while waiting for her to attack.
Lucifer goes to Linda to talk about his mother. He says his dad cast his mother down to Hell. Lucifer did nothing to stop it because she did nothing when he was cast out. He thinks she’s taken over a dead body to punish him for his role.
Chloe wants to test Lucifer’s blood. He was shot two days ago and should be dead. They investigate a murder and find the victim, Gillian, has metal horns. The medical examiner says the victim died of strangulation and the body was moved to its present environment. Is her condition a statement to Lucifer?
Dan shows up on the scene. He’s been reinstated but demoted to assist on cases. Chloe doesn’t know how to feel.
Lucifer talks to the ME. When he speaks of Hell, she thinks he’s a method actor. The victim was a stand-in actress. The lead actress, Amy, shows up on scene and makes Chloe suspicious. She puts it aside for now. How will she play into this?
Gillian’s roommate shows Chloe and Lucifer her place. They were friends. She’s upset because she got Gillian the job by introducing her to Amy. Turns out Amy died of an overdose recently and came back. Lucifer suspects his mother of killing Gillian. Is he right?
Lucifer and Amenadiel worry about Maze. She’s disappeared. They wonder if she helped their mother escape. Amenadiel is upset that Chloe is going to test Lucifer’s blood. Humans can’t have proof of divinity. He leaves to take care of it.
Dan discovers that Amy and Gillian had an argument a few days before she died. Chloe wonders if Gillian was blackmailing Amy about her drug problem.
Lucifer breaks into Amy’s dressing room and accuses her of being his mother. She attacks him in a sexual embrace. Lucifer is disgusted. Chloe finds them in the compromising position.
Amy tells Chloe that Gillian was her sober companion. Gillian was supposed to keep an eye on her and tried to take away her supply. Chloe gets the number of Amy’s dealer. Lucifer is now convinced his mother is the dealer. Where is she really?
Amenadiel freezes time at the police station and breaks into Chloe’s desk. Time suddenly starts again and he’s caught by another officer. How did that happen?
Chloe comes to Lux and finds Amenadiel instead of Lucifer. He says she needs to know the truth about Lucifer. Then, he pulls out a gun and shoots himself. He bleeds, but doesn’t appear hurt. Amenadiel pulls his shirt up to reveal a bullet proof vest and blood packs. He says Lucifer was wearing the same when he got shot. Will it fool her?
Chloe tracks the dealer to an AA meeting. Lucifer doesn’t believe his mother would care about the drugs so she can’t be the killer. He stands up and tries to lure the dealer out by talking about his love of drugs and his pocketful of cash.
After the meeting, the dealer approaches them. Chloe questions him about the murder. He throws up at the pictures. It obviously wasn’t him. He tells Chloe that Amy had a dealer before him.
Lucifer is back at Lux. A hooded figure approaches. When he tries to stab Lucifer, Maze appears and takes him out. She tells Lucifer she was seeking therapy. The attacker turns out to be Amy’s jealous boyfriend. He tells Lucifer that Gillian cut off Amy’s former dealer. The dealer, Bobby B, was angry. Lucifer runs off to tell Chloe. Amy’s boyfriend asks Maze if she’s going to let him go. She wants to have some fun first. He’s in for it now!
Chloe gives Lucifer a list of dealers to look through. He’s about to give her the dealer’s name when he sees a picture of Gillian’s roommate with her nametag on. His eyes glow red and leaves in a hurry. Is she his mother or the dealer?
Amy’s boyfriend leaves Lux covered in tar and feathers. Maze is playing with a cattle prod when Amenadiel finds her. She tells him she left because she needed space. He agrees they need to distance themselves. She seems upset. Apparently that was the wrong thing to say.
Chloe asks the ME if she believes the Devil is real. She says doubt is paramount to belief. The examiner suddenly gets inspired about the case. She found nitrogen in Gillian’s skull. The metal rods in her head were taken from a fertilized garden. Chloe remembers the flamingos in Gillian’s yard.
Lucifer shows up at the roommate’s door. He accuses her of being the dealer. She was angry that Gillian helped Amy get clean. Lucifer takes it personally that she sacrificed the girl who was like a daughter to her over nothing. The woman attacks him with a fire poker. He bleeds. Is Chloe close by? The woman chokes him. Chloe knocks on the door and peers through the window when she doesn’t get a response. Bobby B reaches back to stab Lucifer and Chloe tases her.
Chloe tells Lucifer she talked to Amenadiel, but didn’t believe him. She doesn’t know what Lucifer’s deal is, but he makes her a better detective. She doesn’t believe he’s crazy.
Lucifer no longer thinks his mother is out to kill him, but he’s terrified at what she really wants.
Chloe throws away her vial of Lucifer’s blood. Amenadiel practices his power, but he’s losing control over it.
A woman appears at Lucifer’s flat and collapses on the floor. It’s his mother. We’ll have to wait until next week for her story.
