As if headlining Oscar-nominated films was not enough, Meryl Streep is ready to conquer television next.
According to Deadline, Streep is partnering with Warner Bros. TV to bring Nathan Hill's critically acclaimed novel, The Nix, to television. But Streep is not the only mega name attached to the project. Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams is set to executive produce.
This would be a monumental occasion for the Florence Foster Jenkins actress as she has not held a starring TV role since the 2003 miniseries, Angels in America.
She made a guest appearance on Lisa Kudrow's Web Therapy in 2011.
Abrams, however, is no stranger to the small screen. His Bad Robot production company consists of a long list of television credits including ABC's Lost, Showtime's Roadies and the forthcoming HBO series, Westworld.
Hill's New York Times best-selling novel tells the story of Samuel Andresen-Anderson, who was forsaken by his mother Faye, the character Streep is to take on. Faye is entangled in controversy and Samuel is on a mission to pull her out of it.
Streep undoubtedly has her hands full as her performance for Florence Foster Jenkins is placing her in the center of Oscar contention.
Abrams' Bad Robot will produce The Nix alongside author, Hill. A premiere date has yet to be announced.
