Being young and in the public eye isn't always easy and growing up in the limelight today can be especially difficult because of social media.
Many times celebrities become the target of internet trolls and although they try not to let the petty and downright rude things people hiding behind computers say affect them, unfortunately sometimes it does.
Paris Jackson is just one example of someone who has been targeted online for reasons she can't understand and so she released an emotional video talking about all the cyberbullying she has endured time and time again.
“I don’t understand how there can be so much hatred in the world right now,” the 18-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson said. “I’ve tried sticking up for myself. I’ve tried the whole blocking the haters thing, not reading the comments, I’ve tried a lot of things. Ignoring it. But it’s hard.”
She then revealed that when she was younger the hate really got to her and she contemplated suicide.
“When I was 14 I got so much hatred that I tried to kill myself and I took, like, a two-year break from social media and then people asked me to come back, to make my Instagram public again, so I did,” she said. “And nothing changed!”
Paris then talked about how unfairly Justin Bieber's rumored girlfriend Sofia Richie has been treated for being seen with the pop star saying, "She’s one of the sweetest girls in the world and people are telling her to kill herself! I mean we’re human beings, man! We got hearts and brains and feelings, and when you say damaging things like that to people, it f**ks ‘em up.”
Jackson concluded the video by apologizing to her fans for venting about what was weighing on her mind.
