With Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam being ousted from Saturday Night Live's upcoming season, it was inevitable that the long-running NBC sketch comedy show would make way for some fresh comic relief.
Mikey Day, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor have all been added to the all-star cast list, that includes Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, for season 42, NBC announced Monday.
Although Day is a new player on the SNL roster, he still has a history with the Lorne Michaels-produced series.
Day has been writing for the show since 2013. He also worked alongside a former SNL icon, Maya Rudolph, as he recurred on her show Maya & Marty this summer.
Villaseñor has seen her fair share of spotlight on the peacock network as well. The 28-year-old comedian was a Top 16 finalist on the competition variety series, America's Got Talent.
This will be Moffat's first experience with the bright lights of New York as his only acting job consists of being a teen improv teacher at Second City.
The trio of comedians are obviously trying to fill the voids made by the exits of Pharoah and Killam.
Killam, who admitted to being shocked at his ouster, has since returned to his roots by assuming the role of his famous SNL character, Jebidiah Atkinson, in a skit where he reviewed his new film, Brother Nature. He was also joined by former SNL costar, Bobby Moynihan.
It did not take long for Pharoah to score another television series. On the heels of his VMA appearance, it has been announced that Pharoah will be headlining the Jamie Foxx produced show titled White Famous.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, Pharaoh has confessed he will "miss seeing everybody every day."
SNL's 42nd season premieres Oct. 1 on NBC.
