In this week's Gotham: Mad City: Anything for You...
Oswald is adjusting to his new role as the Mayor of Gotham. He goes through the traditional victory parade and then fulfills his mayoral duties including interacting with the people and appearing publicly. Oswald has a statue made of his mother and is speaking to a crowd about how great she was when the Red Hood Gang make a return to Gotham. They destroy the statue and taunt Oswald. The Red Hood Gang is back. But for how long?
Barnes is looking at evidence from the Alice Tech case. The effects of the blood don’t seem to currently be affecting him. Edward makes his triumphant return to GCPD. He taunts Barnes and Bullock and tells them he will be the Mayor’s personal liaison into the Red Hood investigation. He visits Lucius Fox and they have an interesting conversation while he looks into the forensics. He then tries to talk with Leslie but she greets him with a punch in the face. She threatens him.
I’m curious how Leslie being engaged to Mario Falcone will come into play.
Jim and Valerie are having morning coffee and trying to keep things between them casual. Alice is very curious about the rumors involving Alice’s blood. Jim gets a visit from Bruce who wants to hire Jim to look into Ivy’s disappearance. He wants to do it as a favor for Selina. They visit GCPD where Bullock tells them about the man who claims he was attacked by a redhead in her 20s and had Ivy’s sweater. Jim runs into Leslie and the two have a brief conversation about her upcoming engagement announcement. Jim knows Mario’s last name is Falcone and reminds Leslie again that he is happy for her. Still so much tension between these two.
Oswald is having a meeting with his crew including Victor and Barbara. He wants the Red Hood gang found and killed. Oswald stresses about the gang and it seems that Edward might know where they are. We see the gang going over their score when Butch arrives. We surprisingly find out he is working with the gang. Butch wants to get them into the Mayor’s party tonight when Barbara and Tabitha surprise him. He tells them he was setting up the gang and was going to take them down at the party and be the hero. Tabitha wants the bounty off her head. Butch’s plan has to take place earlier as Oswald has located them. He quickly kills the gang just before Oswald walks up. Butch looks like the hero. Edward doesn’t look impressed.
Jim and Bruce are having lunch and Jim tells Bruce to tell Selina how he truly feels about her. Oswald is giving Butch all of the credit for taking down the Red Hood gang. Bullock is investigating the crime scene and Edward is conducting his own investigation. He notices the suits that Butch got for the gang to wear to the party.
Barnes visits Leslie inside the M.E. Lab and is asking if she has anything on Alice Tech’s blood. She tells him the lab just sent results from tests they conducted on rats. They found that some of the rats showed increased strength and stamina. It seems that the blood can also make you unstable. Barnes is obviously concerned about this.
Mayor Oswald is hosting his victory party and this is the place to be. Tabitha tells Butch she owes him one. Bruce and Alfred arrive in style. Bruce thanks Oswald for saving their lives from Galavan and notice Selina across the bar. Ivy grabs Selina and Selina doesn’t recognize her at all. I wonder how long until Ivy reveals herself to Selina.
Edward figures out Butch was behind the Red Hood operation and Butch attacks him but Edward has an interesting offer. They kill Oswald together and they can both run Gotham. Butch refuses but Edward shows him that Victor is on his side and they have Tabitha. It seems that Butch has no choice. This is an interesting development. Is this the end of the bromance between Edward and Oswald?
Barbara gives Oswald a rousing introduction and as Oswald is giving his speech when Butch arrives with the hood on and goes to shoot Oswald. The gun has blanks in it and Victor comes up behind him and shoots him in the leg. Edward did this to set up Butch. Oswald is furious and feels very betrayed by Butch. The fight begins when Tabitha comes out and Butch knocks down Victor and goes to try and choke Edward out until Oswald knocks him out with a bottle of champagne. “Best party ever!” Barbara says.
Bruce takes Selina outside to tell her about hiring Jim to look for Ivy. Bruce then tells Selina her true feelings. I feel like he has wanted to say this for a while. She replies back to him then leans in and kisses him. Bruce looks confused, but also very happy.
Valerie is on a date and is still curious about Alice Tech’s blood. Jim crashes the date and wants Valerie to buy him dinner and he will tell her everything she wants to know. Oswald makes some tea for Edward and Edward reminds him that he is the city’s hero. Butch is in the ambulance and Tabitha seems to be on the move to break him out.
Barnes’ obsession with Alice’s blood continues and he finds out that the ambulance carrying Butch was attacked. He quickly gets up and realizes he doesn’t need the cane to walk anymore. It seems the effects of Alice’s blood are starting to affect him.
The Mad Hatter aka Jervis Tech is not taking his sister’s death very well. He has kidnapped a young girl and calls her Alice before cutting her throat. He then takes a pen and dips it in her blood and writes the name James Gordon on a piece of paper…
