Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer will not play on Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers the team announced on Wednesday.

According to NFL.com, Palmer suffered a concussion during Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said that Palmer is making progress in recovering from the concussion, but won’t travel with the team. Palmer has thrown for 1,150 yards and six touchdowns this season.

"There's no way I'm going to take any chances with him," Arians said. "He argued a little bit, but he is not cleared. But he's getting much better and feels fine. Hopefully we'll have him back next week."

Drew Stanton will be the Cardinals quarterback on Thursday night. It will be Stanton’s first start since 2014 where he went 5-3. He completed four of 11 passes for 37 yards and had two interceptions last Sunday. Stanton is 7-5 as a starter in his career.

The Cardinals are currently 1-3.
