Turns out the greatest Olympian of all time is also great at keeping secrets because he has been married to Nicole Johnson for months and no one knew about it.
People has confirmed that Michael Phelps and the former Miss California USA actually tied the knot on June 13, before he dominated the swimming competitions in Rio. So yes, while everyone was watching the swimmer add more gold to his collection and calling Johnson his fiancée she was already his wife.
Phelps really played it off too last August by saying that they hadn't set a wedding date after he was asked if they decided when they were getting married.
The Olympian and Johnson got engaged in February and welcomed their son Boomer into the world last May. After the Olympics concluded Phelps retired but not before cementing his legacy as the greatest to ever enter the pool.
