This summer 20th Century FOX released the new comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, which became available on Blu-ray Sept. 27. While obviously not a deeply intelligent film, the movie is full of slapstick humor that manages to take the viewer on a fun and silly ride. Who doesn’t need more of that in their life?
Mike and Dave are two partying brothers that manage to ruin every family gathering they go to after getting too wild. Their little sister is getting married and she’s asked them to please find respectable dates for her wedding. Their parents are hoping the girls will keep them in line. The guys advertise and end up with two girls who changed their image for the free trip to Hawaii. Once there, their true demeanors begin to show and everything goes terribly and hilariously wrong.
The movie lives on over-the-top and slapstick humor. It never pretends to be a smart, dramatic film so if you’re looking for pure silliness and outrageous antics, you’ll love it. Who among us doesn’t occasionally need a film where we don’t need to think? One where we can just laugh and forget our troubles for a while?
Adam Devine is crazy as always and incredibly entertaining. It’s also fun to watch Anna Kendrick let loose.
If you enjoy sex jokes and find yourself laughing at stupid humor, this movie could be a good fit. It manages to have a bit of a moral to hold the plot together while still being absolutely insane. If you want a film that makes you belly laugh for your next movie night, give Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates a try.
