News broke on Wednesday, Oct. 12, that professional skateboarder and male model Dylan Rieder died after a battle with leukemia. He was 28.
Transworld Skateboarding reported on his passing, which was confirmed by his manager who said his client died due to complications from the disease.
"It’s hard to believe even typing this—we lost one of the best to ever step on a skateboard today. Dylan Rieder, whose flawless style, explosive power, and epic video parts influenced an entire generation and beyond, passed away today due to complications with Leukemia."
The skateboarding world was hit hard by this news as were other celebrities he worked with. Many shared their condolences via social media.
People noted that Rieder's family asked that any donations in Dylan’s memory be made to his physician, Dr. Stephen Forman, who is an international expert in the hematology and oncology fields at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in California.
