Foodles Production Ltd. has been ordered by a London court to pay 1.6 million pounds (about $1.95 million) in retribution for an accident on set during the filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens that resulted in Harrison Ford breaking his leg.
Foodles, a subsidiary of Disney pleaded guilty to two counts of health and safety breaches at the Aylesbery Crown Court, back in July. The verdict was handed down Oct. 13, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Ford's leg was broken after a hydraulic door from the Millennium Falcon spaceship landed on him during filming.
“I knew that my leg was likely broken, and I didn’t know what other injuries there were. I was mostly concerned about the long ambulance ride to London.”
Prosecutors alleged that Ford should have been warned of the dangers of the spaceship prior to filming. It was also suggested that Ford, 71, could have been killed by the door which hit him at a force similar to that of a small car, shattering his leg.
"If only they had included Mr. Ford in all the discussions, he might have at least been alert to the dangers that he had to avoid," said Judge Francis Sheridan.
Ford's injury, however, had no bearing on the success of the film which grossed a total of nearly $2 billion, worldwide the Associated Press reports.
