Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown can’t stop dancing in the end zone after he scores a touchdown and NFL has fined him $24,000 for his latest celebration.
Brown’s latest touchdown dance happened during the first quarter of last Sunday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He caught a 38-yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger and scored the touchdown and received a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, according to Sports Illustrated. The NFL has a rule that bans “sexually suggestive” behavior on the field but the rule needs some clarification. Denver Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders twerked in the end zone after a touchdown last weekend but wasn’t flagged or fined.
Dean Blandino, the NFL’s senior vice president of officiating, told ESPN earlier this week that the league will send an explanatory video to teams this week for clarification.
Brown is appealing and said that the fines won’t stop him from dancing after a touchdown.
I did it the first time and tried to minimize with two, and still it’s a fine,” he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “It’s a game. You have to have fun. I can’t stop having fun. It’s always fun when we get to win games and do what we love to do. We work so hard over the course of the week. When you get in the end zone you’re filled with so much fun, passion and emotion.”
This isn’t the first time that Brown has been fined for his touchdown celebrations. As we previously reported, he twerked after scoring a touchdown in the season-opener and got fined for it. In the first four weeks of the season he has accumulated $45,578 in fines.
Brown has 28 catches for 369 yards and four touchdowns this season. He ranks sixth among receivers in yards and is tied for most receiving touchdowns.
